Practising Gratitude

The urge to be grateful

The concept of gratitude is often tossed around like a buzzword without truly sinking into our hearts and minds. The idea of a 'spiritual society' nudges us towards the practice of gratitude, urging us to count our blessings and be thankful for what we have. But gratitude isn't a switch we can flip on command. It's a deep-rooted feeling that requires cultivation and understanding.

Repeating affirmations or reciting prayers about gratitude may seem like the logical solution, but if these words lack genuine emotion and connection, they become hollow echoes rather than meaningful expressions.

How to feel grateful

Activating gratitude is not too hard: First, take a conscious step back from the societal norms or expectations that dictate what we should be grateful for. Instead, look at your past and/or present, and ask: "What in my life is truly sacred to me"? or โ€œWhat would I not want to miss in my life?โ€.
This introspective journey doesn't require rituals, prayers or affirmations. It's a simple moment of quiet reflection on the precious aspects of our lives that are meaningful to us. Whether it's the warmth of a loved one's embrace, the serenity of a sunrise, or the simple joy of laughter you share with a friend, these are the thoughts that ignite the flames of gratitude within us.

Effects of Gratitude

As you consciously dwell on these moments, you will notice a shift in your energy. The act of acknowledging and feeling our blessings opens channels within us, allowing for a much better flow of energy within our physical and mental systems. And with each practice, our ability to tap into this state of gratitude increases, making it easier and faster to summon this state in our daily lives. Practising gratitude this way means peeling back the layers of social conditioning and tuning in to the whispers of our hearts. By focusing on the things that truly matter to us - personally -, we unlock the transformative flow of gratitude enriching our lives, improving relaxation, resilience, resistance to stress, happiness and natural self-healing capacities. It is one of the most powerful and sustainable medicines. It is permanently accessible to everyone and completely free.
